وفق التقرير المنشور اليوم فإن هناك ثلاثة مسؤولين أمنيين مطلعين قالوا ، أمس الإثنين، إن وزير الدفاع الإندونيسي التقى قائد القوات الجوية الباكستانية في إسلام آباد لمناقشة صفقة محتملة تشمل بيع طائرات مقاتلة وطائرات مسيرة انتحارية إلى جاكرتا.
وتأتي هذه المحادثات في وقت يمضي فيه قطاع الدفاع الباكستاني قدماً في سلسلة من المفاوضات بشأن مشتريات دفاعية، بما في ذلك صفقات مع الجيش الوطني الليبي والجيش السوداني، ويتطلع إلى ترسيخ مكانة باكستان ضمن الأطراف الفاعلة الكبيرة في المنطقة.
ووفق التقرير فقد أكدت وزارة الدفاع الإندونيسية الاجتماع بين وزير الدفاع جعفري شمس الدين وقائد القوات الجوية الباكستانية المارشال زهير أحمد بابر سيدو.
وقال المتحدث باسم وزارة الدفاع البريجادير جنرال ريكو ريكاردو سيرايت لـرويترز، ركز الاجتماع على مناقشة علاقات التعاون الدفاعي العام، بما في ذلك الحوار الاستراتيجي وتعزيز التواصل بين المؤسسات الدفاعية وفرص التعاون على أساس المنفعة المتبادلة في مختلف المجالات على المدى الطويل، مضيفاً أن المحادثات لم تسفر بعد عن قرارات ملموسة.
كذلك قال الجيش الباكستاني في بيان، إن وزير الدفاع الإندونيسي التقى أيضاً قائد الجيش الباكستاني المارشال عاصم منير لإجراء محادثات ركزت على المسائل ذات الاهتمام المشترك، والديناميكيات الأمنية الإقليمية والعالمية المتطورة، واستكشاف سبل تعزيز التعاون الدفاعي الثنائي.
وتقدمت إندونيسيا بعدد كبير من طلبات شراء الطائرات في الأعوام القليلة الماضية، بما في ذلك 42 طائرة رافال فرنسية بقيمة 8.1 مليار دولار في 2022 و48 طائرة مقاتلة من طراز كان من تركيا العام الماضي لتعزيز قواتها الجوية وتحديث أسطولها الجوي القديم.
وازداد الاهتمام ببرنامج تطوير أسلحة الجيش الباكستاني منذ نشر طائراتها في صراع قصير مع الهند العام الماضي.
وكانت طائرات “جيه.أف-17” محور هذا الاهتمام المتزايد، إذ ظهرت في صفقة مع أذربيجان واتفاقية أسلحة بقيمة 4 مليارات دولار مع الجيش الوطني الليبي.

According to a report published today, three informed security officials said yesterday, Monday, that Indonesia’s defense minister met with the commander of the Pakistani Air Force in Islamabad to discuss a potential deal involving the sale of fighter jets and loitering (suicide) drones to Jakarta.
These talks come at a time when Pakistan’s defense sector is moving forward with a series of negotiations over defense procurements, including deals with the Libyan National Army and the Sudanese army, as it seeks to cement Pakistan’s position among the major influential players in the region.
The report said that Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the meeting between Defense Minister Jafrie Shamsuddin and Pakistani Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.
Brigadier General Riko Ricardo Serait, a spokesperson for Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense, told Reuters: “The meeting focused on discussing overall defense cooperation relations, including strategic dialogue, strengthening communication between defense institutions, and opportunities for cooperation based on mutual benefit across various fields over the long term,” adding that the talks had not yet resulted in any concrete decisions.
The Pakistani army also said in a statement that Indonesia’s defense minister met with Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, for talks that “focused on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics, and exploring ways to enhance bilateral defense cooperation.”
Indonesia has placed a large number of aircraft purchase orders in recent years, including 42 French Rafale jets worth $8.1 billion in 2022 and 48 KAAN fighter jets from Turkey last year, as part of efforts to strengthen its air force and modernize its aging fleet.
Interest in Pakistan’s military weapons development program has increased since its aircraft were deployed in a brief conflict with India last year.
The JF-17 fighter jets have been at the center of this growing interest, having featured in a deal with Azerbaijan and a $4 billion arms agreement with the Libyan National Army.
