بحث ولي العهد السعودي محمد بن سلمان، مع رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر، تعزيز التعاون الثنائي بين البلدين، إضافة إلى ملفي قطاع غزة وإيران.
وأفادت وكالة الأنباء السعودية (واس)، الجمعة، بأن الأمير محمد بن سلمان، تلقى اتصالا هاتفيا من ستامر، جرى خلاله “استعراض العلاقات بين البلدين الصديقين، ومجالات التعاون الثنائي وآليات تعزيزها، إلى جانب مناقشة عدد من القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك”.
وأفادت الخارجية البريطانية، في منشور بمنصة شركة “إكس” الأمريكية، الجمعة، بأن “رئيس الوزراء اتصل هاتفيا مع محمد بن سلمان، ولي عهد السعودية”.
وتناول الاتصال الهاتفي الزيارة “الناجحة” للأمير ويليام إلى السعودية، والمفاوضات التجارية بين المملكة المتحدة ودول مجلس التعاون الخليجي.
وفي 9 فبراير/ شباط الجاري، استقبل ولي العهد السعودي، الأمير ويليام، أمير ويلز وولي عهد المملكة المتحدة، في مدينة الدرعية بالعاصمة الرياض، في أول زيارة يجريها الأمير البريطاني إلى المملكة.
كما جرى خلال الاتصال الهاتفي بحث “أهمية الحفاظ على وقف إطلاق النار في غزة”، والتأكيد على “ضرورة ألا تتمكن إيران من تطوير سلاح نووي”، وفق الخارجية البريطانية.
وتم التوصل للاتفاق، بعد عامين من حرب إبادة جماعية بدأتها إسرائيل في 8 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023، وخلفت أكثر من 72 ألف قتيل فلسطيني وما يزيد عن 171 ألف جريح، معظمهم أطفال ونساء، ودمارا طال 90 بالمئة من البنية التحتية المدنية.
وتشهد المنطقة توترات متزايدة على ضوء مخاوف من توجيه واشنطن ضربة عسكرية لإيران في حال عدم التوصل لاتفاق بشأن ملفها النووي، وسط استعدادات في تل أبيب لرد إيراني على إسرائيل.
والخميس، استضافت مدينة جنيف السويسرية، جولة مفاوضات ثالثة بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران بواسطة عمانية انتهت بالاتفاق على إجراء محادثات فنية بين الجانبين الأسبوع المقبل.
وتطالب الولايات المتحدة إيران بوقف أنشطتها لتخصيب اليورانيوم بالكامل، ونقل اليورانيوم المخصب إلى خارج البلاد، والتخلي عن برنامجها الصاروخي الباليستية، وتلوِّح باستخدام القوة العسكرية ضدها.
وترى إيران أن الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل تختلقان ذرائع للتدخل وتغيير النظام فيها، وتتوعد بالرد على أي هجوم عسكري حتى لو كان محدودا، مع تمسكها برفع العقوبات الاقتصادية الغربية مقابل فرض قيود على برنامجها النووي.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed, with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in addition to the files of the Gaza Strip and Iran.
The Saudi News Agency (SPA) reported on Friday that Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from Stamer, during which they “reviewed the relations between the two friendly countries, areas of bilateral cooperation and mechanisms for strengthening them, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest.”
The British Foreign Office reported, in a post on the American “X” platform, on Friday, that “the Prime Minister telephoned Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.”
The phone call covered Prince William’s “successful” visit to Saudi Arabia, and trade negotiations between the United Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
On February 9, the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince William, received the Prince of Wales and the Crown Prince of the United Kingdom, in the city of Diriyah in the capital, Riyadh, in the first visit by the British prince to the Kingdom.
The phone call also discussed “the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza,” and stressing “the necessity for Iran not to be able to develop a nuclear weapon,” according to the Foreign Ministry.British.
The agreement was reached two years after a genocidal war that Israel began on October 8, 2023, which left more than 72,000 Palestinians dead and more than 171,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure.
The region is witnessing increasing tensions in light of fears that Washington will launch a military strike against Iran if an agreement is not reached on its nuclear file, amid preparations in Tel Aviv for an Iranian response to Israel.
On Thursday, the Swiss city of Geneva hosted a third round of negotiations between the United States and Iran through an Omani woman, which ended with an agreement to hold technical talks between the two sides next week.
The United States demands that Iran completely halt its uranium enrichment activities, transfer enriched uranium outside the country, abandon its ballistic missile program, and threatens to use military force against it.
Iran believes that the United States and Israel are creating pretexts to intervene and change the regime in it, and vows to respond to any military attack, even if it is limited, while it adheres to lifting Western economic sanctions in exchange for imposing restrictions on its nuclear program.
