قال الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، الأحد، إنه قد يجتمع مع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين “قريبا جدا”، مبينا أنهم يريدون وقف الحرب بين روسيا وأوكرانيا.
جاء ذلك في تصريحات ترامب المقتضبة للصحفيين خلال صعوده إلى طائرته في رحلته لمشاهدة سباق دايتونا 500.
وأشار الرئيس الأمريكي إلى أنه يبذل جهودا لوقف الحرب بين روسيا وأوكرانيا، وردا على سؤال حول موعد لقائه مع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتن، أجاب “قد يكون ذلك قريبا جدا، سيكون قريبا”.
وقال ترامب إن بوتن والرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي يريدان إنهاء الحرب، مضيفا “أعتقد أن (بوتين) يريد وقف الحرب، أرى ذلك، تحدثنا عن هذا مطولاً”.
وأكمل “نحن نعمل معا، ونحاول تحقيق السلام بين روسيا وأوكرانيا، ونعمل بجد لتحقيق ذلك، كانت حربا لم يكن ينبغي أن تبدأ بتاتا”.
وأجرى الرئيس الأمريكي ترامب محادثات هاتفية منفصلة مع كل من بوتين وزيلينسكي في 12 فبراير/شباط الجاري وقال إن الوفدين الأمريكي والروسي سيعقدان اجتماعا في المملكة العربية السعودية.
ومنذ 24 فبراير/ شباط 2022، تشن روسيا هجوما عسكريا على جارتها أوكرانيا، وتشترط لإنهائه تخلي كييف عن الانضمام إلى كيانات عسكرية غربية، وهو ما تعتبره الأخيرة تدخلا في شؤونها.
