وقع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، الخميس، مرسوما يقضي بتعيين ألكسندر دارتشييف، سفيرا لموسكو لدى العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، وذلك في إطار تطبيع العلاقات.
وبحسب مراسل الأناضول، فإن دارتشييف كان يشغل منصب رئيس قسم شمال الأطلسي بوزارة الخارجية الروسية، قبل تعيينه سفيرا بواشنطن ومراقبا دائما في منظمة الدول الأمريكية.
وفي 27 فبراير/ شباط الماضي احتضنت إسطنبول اجتماعا لوفدين أمريكي وروسي لبحث استئناف أنشطة سفارتي البلدين في إطار تطبيع العلاقات.
وترأس الوفد الأمريكي سوناتا كولتر نائبة مستشار وزارة الخارجية لشؤون روسيا وأوروبا الوسطى، فيما ترأس دارتشييف وفد موسكو.
وفي 28 فبراير قالت وزارة الخارجية الروسية في بيان إن الولايات المتحدة وافقت على تعيين دارتشييف سفيرا لبلاده لدى واشنطن.
وكان أول لقاء بين وفدي البلدين جرى في 18 فبراير بالعاصمة السعودية الرياض، في إطار جهود استئناف العلاقات الثنائية ووقف الحرب في أوكرانيا.
ومؤخرا، أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب أنه سيجري محادثات مع نظيره الروسي فلاديمير بوتين في السعودية “قريبا” بهدف إنهاء الحرب الأوكرانية.
