قال متحدث الاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر توماسو ديلا لونغا، الجمعة، إن نقص المياه في قطاع غزة يؤدي لارتفاع معدلات الأمراض لا سيما بين الأطفال.
وأشار لونغا في مؤتمر صحفي أسبوعي لمكتب الأمم المتحدة في جنيف، إلى أن الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني تلقى مئات المكالمات خلال الـ48 ساعة الماضية في غزة، حيث تواصل إسرائيل إبادتها الجماعية.
وأضاف: “تفيد فرقنا بأن تأثير نقص المياه المزمن في غزة بات حادا بصورة متزايدة خلال الأيام الثلاثة الماضية. وهذا يعني أن معدلات المرض آخذة في الارتفاع، لا سيما بين الأطفال”.
وأوضح أن الأطباء في غزة مُنهكون وأن الإمدادات الطبية الأساسية على وشك النفاد.
ولفت إلى أن المساعدات الإنسانية لم تصل إلى غزة منذ نحو 3 أسابيع جراء إغلاق إسرائيل للمعابر.
وذكر أن خدمة إسعاف الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني تأثرت بشكل كبير بنفاد إمدادات الوقود، وأنه لم يتبقَّ سوى 23 سيارة إسعاف من بين 53 كانت تعمل قبل إغلاق المعابر، بسبب نقص الوقود.
ودعا لونغا الأطراف إلى حماية المدنيين والعاملين في المجال الإنساني والطبي، وضمان وصول المساعدات والخدمات الأساسية بأمان ودون عوائق إلى جميع أنحاء القطاع.
وأكد ضرورة فتح جميع المعابر الحدودية القائمة لضمان تدفق مستدام وموسع للمساعدات الإنسانية إلى غزة، بما في ذلك الإمدادات الطبية والغذاء والوقود.
