قال الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، الثلاثاء، إن الحرس الوطني في لوس أنجلوس سيواصل خدمته في المدينة حتى زوال الخطر.
وتطرق ترامب إلى الأحداث الجارية في لوس أنجلوس خلال فعالية في المكتب البيضاوي، حضرتها أيضا وزيرة الأمن الداخلي كريستي نويم.

وأضاف: “كانت لوس أنجلوس تحت الحصار حتى وصلنا إليها. لم تستطع الشرطة السيطرة عليها. قال قائد الشرطة هذا على التلفزيون قبل 3 ليال”.
وأردف: “بذلوا قصارى جهدهم، لكنهم لم يتمكنوا من التعامل مع الأحداث. لم تستدعِ حكومة الولاية الحرسَ الوطني، فأرسلناهم في النهاية”.
وردا على سؤال بشأن موعد مغادرة الحرس الوطني، الذي وصل عدده الإجمالي في المدينة إلى 4 آلاف عنصر، أجاب ترامب: “حتى يزول الخطر. وعندما يزول الخطر، سيغادرون”.
وذكر أن المظاهرات قد هدأت جزئيا اعتبارا من اليوم، وأن قوات الأمن ستواصل عملها وستتدخل في حال وقوع أعمال عنف.
ولدى جوابه عما إذا كان سيلجأ إلى قانون التمرد لعام 1807، قال الرئيس الأمريكي: “يعتمد الأمر كليا على وجود تمرد من عدمه. إذا وقع تمرد، فسألجأ إلى هذا القانون”.
وأردف: “ربما لا نستطيع وصفهم بالمتمردين، لكنهم بالتأكيد أشخاص سيئون للغاية يكرهون بلادهم”.
