لليوم السادس يواصل المحتجون الخروج بمسيرات سلمية في كاليفورنيا وسانت لويس ومانهاتن وواشنطن تحظر التجول ليلاً
اندلعت احتجاجات في أنحاء الولايات المتحدة ضد سياسات الهجرة المتشددة بعد أيام من التظاهرات في لوس أنجليس، في وقت تستعد فيه كاليفورنيا اليوم الخميس لمواجهة قانونية على خلفية نشر الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترمب للجيش.
واحتشد أكثر من ألف شخص أمس الأربعاء في ثاني كبرى المدن الأميركية ليوم سادس من الاحتجاجات، في إطار مسيرة سلمية جابت شوارع المدينة.
وفرض حظر للتجول لليلة الثانية في وقت حاول مسؤولو المدينة السيطرة على الوضع، بعد أعمال تخريب ونهب وقعت خلال الليل في عدد من مناطق المدينة الممتدة على مساحة 1300 كيلومتر مربع.
وقالت المتظاهرة لين ستورجيس (66 سنة) وهي مدرسة متقاعدة “يمكنني القول إن كل شيء جيد إلى حد كبير هنا، مدينتا لا تحترق كما يحاول رئيسنا الفظيع أن يقول لكم”.
واندلعت الاحتجاجات السلمية بمعظمها على خلفية التصعيد المفاجئ في مساعي توقيف المهاجرين المقيمين بصورة غير قانونية، ولم تكن جيوب العنف بما في ذلك إحراق سيارات أجرة الذاتية القيادة وإلقاء الحجارة على الشرطة أمراً جديداً بالنسبة إلى عناصر شرطة لوس أنجليس البالغ عددهم 8500.
وفي سبوكين في واشنطن، أعلن حظر ليلي للتجول بعدما أوقفت الشرطة أكثر من 30 متظاهراً، وأطلقت كرات الفلفل لتفريق الحشود، بحسب ما أفاد به قائد الشرطة كيفن هول.
وفاز ترمب في انتخابات العام الماضي عبر تعهده مواجهة ما وصفه “غزو” المهاجرين غير الموثقين، ويستغل الفرصة حالياً لتحقيق مكاسب سياسية فأمر بنشر حرس كاليفورنيا الوطني على رغم احتجاجات حاكم الولاية غافين نيوسوم، وهي المرة الأولى التي يقوم الرئيس الأميركي فيها بخطوة مماثلة منذ عقود.
وقال ترمب للصحافيين، وهو في طريقه لمشاهدة عرض لـ”البؤساء” في واشنطن، “سيكون لدينا بلد آمن”، وأضاف “لن يتكرر ما كان يمكن أن يحدث في لوس أنجليس، تذكروا، لو لم أكن هنا، لكانت لوس أنجليس محترقة تماماً الآن”.
وعمل ما بين ألف و4700 جندي نشرهم ترمب على حماية المنشآت، وإلى جانب عناصر إدارة الهجرة والجمارك، بحسب نائب القائد العام للجيش الشمالي سكوت شيرمان الذي يقود العمليات، أما البقية، وبينهم 700 عنصر من المارينز، فهم في حالة تعبئة أو يخضعون للتدريب على التعامل مع الاضطرابات المدنية، على حد قوله.
وذكر “البنتاغون” أن عملية الانتشار ستكلف دافعي الضرائب 134 مليون دولار.
واتهم نيوسوم، وهو ديموقراطي يرجح أنه يتطلع للترشح لانتخابات 2028 الرئاسية، ترمب بالسعي إلى تصعيد المواجهة لتحقيق مكاسب سياسية، وحذر أول من أمس الثلاثاء من أن العسكرة غير المسبوقة ستتجاوز حدود الولاية، معتبراً أن “الديمقراطية تتعرض لهجوم تحت أنظارنا”.
ويتوقع أن يحضر محامون يمثلون كاليفورنيا في المحكمة اليوم الخميس سعياً إلى استصدار أمر يمنع الجنود من مرافقة عناصر الهجرة أثناء توقيف المهاجرين، ووصف محامو إدارة ترمب الالتماس بأنه “مناورة سياسية مبتذلة”.
وعلى رغم تهديد ترمب بنشر الحرس الوطني في ولايات أخرى يديرها الديمقراطيون، فإن المتظاهرين تمسكوا بموقفهم.
وخرجت احتجاجات في سانت لويس ورالي ومانهاتن وإنديانابوليس ودنفر، وفي سان أنتونيو خرج آلاف في مسيرة قرب مبنى البلدية، حيث نشر حاكم تكساس الجمهوري غريغ أبوت حرس الولاية الوطني، بحسب ما أفادت به تقارير.
ويتوقع أن تخرج احتجاجات في أنحاء البلاد في إطار حركة “لا ملوك” السبت المقبل، تزامناً مع حضور ترمب عرضاً عسكرياً نادراً من نوعه إلى حد كبير في العاصمة الأميركية.
وجرى تنظيم العرض الذي تشارك فيه طائرات حربية ودبابات للاحتفال بمرور 250 عاماً على تأسيس الجيش الأميركي، لكنه يصادف أيضاً يوم عيد ميلاد ترمب الـ79.
تصور إدارة ترمب الاحتجاجات على أنها مصدر تهديد عنيف للبلاد يتطلب استخدام القوة العسكرية لدعم عناصر الهجرة العاديين والشرطة، لكن رئيسة بلدية لوس أنجليس كارن باس قالت إن الأزمة صنعت في واشنطن.
وقالت باس للصحافيين “قبل أسبوع، كان كل شي سلمياً في مدينة لوس أنجليس”، وأضافت “بدأ الأمر يزداد صعوبة الجمعة الماضي عندما جرت عمليات الدهم، هذا هو سبب المشكلات”، متهمة البيت الأبيض بالدفع في هذا الاتجاه.
وتواصلت عمليات التوقيف التي نفذها عناصر مسلحون ومقنعون أمس الأربعاء.
وقالت قس في ضاحية داوني في لوس أنجليس إن خمسة مسلحين يقودون سيارات من ولايات أخرى ألقوا القبض على رجل يتحدث الإسبانية في موقف سيارات الكنيسة، وعندما واجهتهم وطلبت أرقام شاراتهم وأسماءهم، رفضوا تقديمها، وأضافت لشبكة “كاي تي إل أيه” “وجهوا بنادقهم نحوي وقالوا ’عليك التراجع‘”.

For the sixth day, protesters continue peaceful marches in California. St. Louis, Manhattan, and Washington impose nighttime curfews.
Protests erupted across the United States against strict immigration policies, days after demonstrations in Los Angeles. This comes as California prepares for a legal battle today, Thursday, following US President Donald Trump‘s deployment of the military.
More than a thousand people rallied yesterday, Wednesday, in America’s second-largest city for a sixth day of protests, as part of a peaceful march through the city’s streets.
A curfew was imposed for the second night as city officials tried to control the situation following acts of vandalism and looting overnight in several areas of the sprawling 1,300-square-kilometer city.
Protester Lynn Sturges (66), a retired teacher, said, “I can say that everything is pretty much okay here. Our city is not burning, as our horrible president is trying to tell you.”
The mostly peaceful protests erupted in response to the sudden escalation in efforts to detain undocumented immigrants. Pockets of violence, including the burning of self-driving taxis and rock-throwing at police, were not new for Los Angeles’ 8,500 police officers.
In Spokane, Washington, a nightly curfew was declared after police arrested more than 30 protesters and fired pepper balls to disperse the crowds, according to Police Chief Kevin Hall.
Trump won last year’s election by pledging to confront what he called an “invasion” of undocumented immigrants. He is now exploiting the opportunity for political gain, ordering the deployment of the California National Guard despite protests from Governor Gavin Newsom. This marks the first time in decades a US president has taken such a step.
Trump told reporters while en route to see a performance of Les Misérables in Washington, “We will have a safe country,” adding, “What could have happened in LA won’t happen again. Remember, if I weren’t here, Los Angeles would be completely burned down right now.”
Between 1,000 and 4,700 soldiers deployed by Trump are protecting facilities, alongside agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to Deputy Commander of Northern Command Scott Sherman, who is leading operations. The remainder, including 700 Marines, are mobilizing or undergoing training for civil unrest, he said.
The Pentagon stated that the deployment operation will cost taxpayers $134 million.
Newsom, a Democrat widely seen as a potential 2028 presidential contender, accused Trump of seeking to escalate confrontation for political gain. He warned on Tuesday that the unprecedented militarization would extend beyond the state’s borders, asserting that “democracy is under attack before our eyes.”
Lawyers representing California are expected in court today, Thursday, seeking an injunction to prevent soldiers from accompanying immigration agents during immigrant arrests. Lawyers for the Trump administration described the petition as a “vulgar political maneuver.”
Despite Trump’s threat to deploy the National Guard in other Democrat-run states, protesters held their ground.
Protests occurred in St. Louis, Raleigh, Manhattan, Indianapolis, and Denver. In San Antonio, thousands marched near City Hall, where Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott deployed the state’s National Guard, reports said.
Protests are expected nationwide this Saturday as part of the “No Kings” movement, coinciding with Trump’s attendance at a largely unprecedented military parade in the US capital.
The parade, featuring warplanes and tanks, was organized to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US Army, but it also coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday.
The Trump administration portrays the protests as a violent threat to the country requiring military force to support regular immigration agents and police. However, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said the crisis was manufactured in Washington.
“One week ago, everything was peaceful in the city of Los Angeles,” Bass told reporters. “It started getting harder last Friday when the raids happened. That’s the cause of the problems,” accusing the White House of pushing in that direction.
Arrests carried out by armed, masked agents continued yesterday, Wednesday.
A pastor in the Downey suburb of Los Angeles said five armed men driving cars from other states detained a Spanish-speaking man in the church parking lot. When she confronted them and asked for their badge numbers and names, they refused. “They pointed their rifles at me and said, ‘You need to back off,'” she told KTLA.
