صرّح يائير، نجل رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، بأن خشيته على حياته من المعارضين لوالده دفعته لمغادرة إسرائيل مطلع العام 2023 والتوجه إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وعلى مدى أكثر من عام أثار يائير جدلا لوجوده بولاية ميامي الأمريكية حتى أثناء حرب الإبادة الجماعية التي ترتكبها إسرائيل بقطاع غزة منذ أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023.
وللمرة الأولى قال يائير في مقابلة مع قناة TOV المحلية بثت مساء الاثنين، إنه “غادر إسرائيل خوفا على حياته”.
وقال: “كانت تلك الليلة عندما قام بنيامين نتنياهو بطرد وزير الدفاع يوآف غالانت من منصبه، ما أثار ردود فعل غاضبة في إسرائيل”.
وأضاف: “كنت وحدي في المنزل، وفي لحظة ما خشيت بشدة أن يقتحم المتظاهرون المنزل، لقد تسلقوا الأسوار حاملين المشاعل، وهو تكتيك أعتبره فاشيًا”.
وأردف: “سمعت تهديدات بقتلي، ورأيت أن الشرطة لا تفعل شيئًا، كان من الواضح أن هناك أوامر عليا للسماح بحدوث كل ذلك”.
وتابع: “بعد تلك الحادثة شعرت بالحاجة إلى الابتعاد حفاظًا على سلامتي”.
وقال يائير: “عندما انتقلت إلى أمريكا شنت حركة كابلان الاحتجاجية (المعارضة لقوانين الحد من سلطات القضاء) عملية مراقبة ضدي، باستخدام محققين خاصين كلفوا ملايين الدولارات”، فيما لم تعلق الحركة على اتهامه.
وكانت إسرائيل شهدت من يناير/كانون الثاني وحتى 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2023 مظاهرات غير مسبوقة ضد الحكومة لمحاولاتها الحد من سلطات القضاء، ولاحقا بدأت مظاهرات أخرى تطالب بإطلاق سراح الأسرى الإسرائيليين لدى الفصائل الفلسطينية بقطاع غزة.
وتُقدر تل أبيب وجود 50 أسيرا إسرائيليا في غزة، منهم 20 أحياء، بينما يقبع في سجونها أكثر من 10 آلاف و400 فلسطيني يعانون من التعذيب والتجويع والإهمال الطبي، ما أودى بحياة العديد منهم، حسب تقارير فلسطينية وإسرائيلية.
وبدعم أمريكي مطلق ترتكب إسرائيل منذ 7 أكتوبر 2023 جرائم إبادة جماعية في غزة خلّفت أكثر من 190 ألف قتيل وجريح فلسطينيين، معظمهم أطفال ونساء، وما يزيد على 11 ألف مفقود، فضلا عن مئات آلاف النازحين.
وقال يائير: “هناك مليشيات تعمل كوحدات عسكرية ممولة من أفراد أسميهم مختلين عقليًا – بعضهم داخل وخارج مصحات عقلية – يستخدمون الاحتجاجات كغطاء. لم يعد هذا احتجاجًا؛ إنه إرهاب يهدف إلى جعل حياتك اليومية لا تُطاق حتى تستسلم”.
وقارن يائير ما بين إسرائيل وإيران قائلا: “تشبه إسرائيل اليوم إيران في بعض النواحي”.
وأضاف: “في إيران هناك وهم الديمقراطية، لكن الجميع يعلم أنها مجرد مظهر، فالسلطة بيد رجال دين غير منتخبين يديرون البلاد حقًا، وفي إسرائيل تلعب المحكمة العليا دورا مشابها – هيئة غير منتخبة ذات سلطة هائلة”، وفق تعبيره.
وتابع يائير: “لا يمكن أن يستمر الوضع الحالي لأن إسرائيل ليست ديمقراطية في الواقع في الوقت الحالي”.
وتدعو الحكومة الإسرائيلية برئاسة نتنياهو إلى سن قوانين تحد من سلطات المحكمة العليا ومنعها من التدخل في قرارات الحكومة أو الكنيست الذي يسيطر عليه اليمين الإسرائيلي.

He continued: “I heard threats to kill me, and I saw that the police were doing nothing. It was clear there were high-level orders allowing all of that to happen.”
He went on: “After that incident, I felt the need to leave for my safety.”
Yair said: “When I moved to America, the Kaplan protest movement (opposed to laws limiting judicial powers) launched a surveillance operation against me, using private investigators costing millions of dollars.” The movement did not comment on his accusation.
Israel witnessed unprecedented protests against the government from January until October 7, 2023, over its attempts to limit judicial powers. Subsequently, other protests began demanding the release of Israeli captives held by Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.
Tel Aviv estimates there are 50 Israeli captives in Gaza, 20 of whom are alive. Meanwhile, over 10,400 Palestinian prisoners are held in its jails, suffering torture, starvation, and medical neglect, which has led to the death of many, according to Palestinian and Israeli reports.

Yair said: “There are militias operating as military units, funded by individuals I call mentally disturbed – some inside and outside mental institutions – who use protests as a cover. This is no longer a protest; it’s terrorism aimed at making your daily life unbearable until you surrender.”
Yair compared Israel to Iran, saying: “Israel today bears similarities to Iran in some aspects.”
He added: “In Iran, there is the illusion of democracy, but everyone knows it’s just a facade. Real power is in the hands of unelected clerics who truly run the country. In Israel, the Supreme Court plays a similar role – an unelected body with enormous power,” according to his statement.
Yair continued: “The current situation cannot continue because Israel is not, in reality, a democracy at the moment.”
The Israeli government, led by Netanyahu, advocates for passing laws to limit the powers of the Supreme Court and prevent it from intervening in government decisions or the decisions of the Knesset (parliament), which is controlled by the Israeli right.
