أعلن منسق الأمم المتحدة للشؤون الإنسانية في سوريا آدم عبد المولى، الخميس، تخصيص 625 ألف دولار، لدعم جهود الاستجابة العاجلة للأشخاص المتضررين من حرائق الغابات في ريف اللاذقية، شمال غربي سوريا.
جاء ذلك في بيان نقلته وكالة الأنباء السورية (سان).
وقال عبد المولى، إن “هذه الأموال ستمكّن الشركاء الإنسانيين وفي مقدمتهم الهلال الأحمر العربي السوري من تقديم المساعدة العاجلة لآلاف الأشخاص المتضررين من الحرائق”.
وأوضح أنه تم “تخصيص 625 ألف دولار لدعم جهود الاستجابة العاجلة للأشخاص المتضررين من حرائق الغابات في ريف اللاذقية”.
وأضاف عبد المولى: “لقد خلّفت حرائق الغابات عواقب وخيمة على المجتمعات المحلية، وتتطلب اهتمامنا الفوري، نقف متضامنين مع الشعب السوري في هذه الحالة الطارئة، وسنواصل بذل كل ما في وسعنا لدعم شركائنا في الاستجابة لمن هم في أمسّ الحاجة إلى المساعدة”.
والثلاثاء، أعلنت الأمم المتحدة أن فرقها تشارك في جهود الاستجابة الإنسانية، بالتعاون مع السلطات السورية لتقييم الآثار الناجمة عن الحرائق المندلعة في ريف اللاذقية، فيما تواصل فرق الإطفاء والدفاع المدني جهودها الحثيثة للسيطرة على الحرائق.
وتتواصل حرائق الغابات في الانتشار بسبب قوة الرياح في منطقة بايربوجاق، بمحافظة اللاذقية.
ولم تتم السيطرة على الحرائق التي اندلعت قبل أسبوع حول جبال قرطال وزاهية وتلة 45 في بايربوجاق إلى غاية مساء الأربعاء.
وتكافح فرق الدفاع المدني والإطفاء السورية، بالإضافة إلى طائرات أرسلت من تركيا والأردن ولبنان، لإخماد الحرائق.
وكانت حرائق واسعة النطاق اندلعت في منطقة بايربوجاق في 3 يوليو/تموز الجاري، حيث لحقت بقرى “قسطل معاف”، و”قنطرة”، و”مزرعة”، و”بيت ملق”، وغابات الفرنلق، ومورطلو، الضرر الأكبر جراء الحرائق.
والثلاثاء، أعلن وزير الداخلية السوري أنس خطاب، في تصريح صحفي، أنه تم اعتقال عدد من الأشخاص يشتبه في ارتباطهم بالحرائق.
وأعلن محافظ اللاذقية محمد عثمان، أن أكثر من 14 ألف دونم (الدونم= ألف متر مربع) من الأراضي الزراعية والحرجية تضررت من الحرائق منذ 3 يوليو.

UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria Adam Abdelmoula announced on Thursday the allocation of $625,000 to support urgent response efforts for those affected by forest fires in the Lattakia countryside, northwestern Syria.
This came in a statement carried by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Abdelmoula stated, “These funds will enable humanitarian partners, primarily the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), to provide urgent assistance to thousands of people affected by the fires.”
He clarified that “$625,000 has been allocated to support urgent response efforts for people affected by the forest fires in the Lattakia countryside.”
Abdelmoula added: “The forest fires have had severe consequences for local communities and require our immediate attention. We stand in solidarity with the Syrian people during this emergency, and we will continue to do everything we can to support our partners in responding to those most in need of assistance.”
On Tuesday, the United Nations announced that its teams are participating in humanitarian response efforts, cooperating with Syrian authorities to assess the impacts of the fires raging in the Lattakia countryside, while firefighting and civil defense teams continue their strenuous efforts to control the blazes.
Forest fires continue to spread due to strong winds in the Bayirbujak area of Lattakia province.
Fires that broke out a week ago around the Kartal and Zahiya mountains and Hill 45 in Bayirbujak had not been brought under control as of Wednesday evening.
Syrian civil defense and firefighting teams, along with aircraft dispatched from Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon, are battling to extinguish the fires.
Large-scale fires broke out in the Bayirbujak area on July 3, with the villages of “Qastal Ma’af”, “Qantara”, “Mazra’a”, “Bayt Malek”, the Furnliq forests, and Murtlu suffering the most significant damage from the fires.
On Tuesday, Syrian Interior Minister Major General Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun announced in a press statement that a number of people suspected of being connected to the fires had been arrested.
Lattakia Governor Amer Ismail Hilal announced that more than 14,000 dunams (1 dunam = 1,000 square meters) of agricultural and forested land had been damaged by the fires since July 3.
