تأثرا بالإغلاق الحكومي شهد قطاع الطيران في الولايات المتحدة إلغاء أكثر من 1700 رحلة خلال نهاية الأسبوع الحالي، بسبب الإغلاق الحكومي المستمر منذ 39 يومًا.
وأفادت الصحافة الأمريكية، السبت، أن شركات الطيران في البلاد، وبناءً على تعليمات إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية، اضطرت لإلغاء أكثر من 1700 رحلة كانت مقررة خلال الفترة بين 7 و9 نوفمبر/ تشرين الثاني الجاري.
ويُعد انخفاض عدد موظفي مراقبة الملاحة الجوية نتيجة الإغلاق الحكومي السبب الرئيسي وراء إلغاء الرحلات، فيما ألقت شركات الطيران المسؤولية على الحكومة والكونغرس.
وفي سياق متصل، ذكرت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية في بيان أن شركات الطيران قلّصت الرحلات الداخلية المنطلقة من 40 مطارًا هي الأكثر ازدحامًا في البلاد، بنسبة 4 بالمئة اعتبارًا من الجمعة، ما أدى إلى إلغاء عدد كبير من الرحلات.
وأوضحت الإدارة أنه في حال استمرار الإغلاق الحكومي، ستضطر شركات الطيران لإلغاء 6 بالمئة من رحلاتها يوم 11 نوفمبر، و10 بالمئة من رحلاتها يوم 14 من الشهر نفسه.

مع انتهاء السنة المالية في الولايات المتحدة لعام 2025 عند منتصف ليل الثلاثاء 30 سبتمبر/ أيلول الماضي، أُغلقت الحكومة الفيدرالية بعد أن فشل الكونغرس في إقرار مشروع ميزانية مؤقتة قبل بدء السنة المالية الجديدة.
وأدى عدم تمرير مشروع الميزانية المؤقتة الذي يسمح للمؤسسات العامة الفيدرالية بمواصلة عملها، إلى أول إغلاق حكومي منذ فترة 2018-2019.
وحسب القوانين الأمريكية، إذا لم يتمكن الكونغرس من إقرار الميزانية السنوية التي تمتد من 1 أكتوبر حتى 30 سبتمبر، يتعين سدّ الفجوة عبر ميزانيات مؤقتة.
وفي الفترات التي لا تُعتمد فيها هذه الميزانيات المؤقتة، تفقد المؤسسات الفيدرالية صلاحية الإنفاق وتضطر إلى تعليق أنشطتها مؤقتاً، ما يعني أن معظم عمليات الحكومة تتوقف في حال عدم صدور قانون يضمن تمويلها قبل بدء السنة المالية الجديدة.
