رفض قاضٍ في المحكمة العليا البرازيلية أمس الجمعة طعناً جديداً تقدم به الرئيس السابق المسجون جايير بولسونارو ضد إدانته بتهمة الانقلاب، وفق وثيقة محكمة اطلعت عليها وكالة الصحافة الفرنسية.
وبدأ بولسونارو البالغ 70 سنة تنفيذ عقوبته بالسجن لمدة 27 عاماً في نوفمبر (تشرين الثاني) الماضي، بعدما أعلنت أعلى محكمة في البلاد استنفاده جميع طرق الاستئناف.
ومع ذلك قدم محاموه طعناً في جوهر القضية بعد ثلاثة أيام من سجنه.
وكانت طعون بولسونارو السابقة والمرفوضة ركزت على “الغموض والإغفالات والتناقضات” التي اعتبر أنها رافقت محاكمته.
وقال القاضي ألكسندر دي مورايس الذي أشرف على محاكمة بولسونارو إنه لا يعترف بالطعن الجديد الذي يشترط تصويت قاضيين ضد الإدانة.
وكان قاضٍ واحد فقط من أصل خمسة قضاة في هيئة المحكمة العليا صوَّت ضد إدانة بولسونارو.
ودين السياسي اليميني المتطرف الذي شغل منصب الرئيس من عام 2019 إلى 2022 بتهمة قيادة مؤامرة بعد خسارته الانتخابات لمنع الرئيس لويس إيناسيو لولا دا سيلفا من تولي منصبه.
وأقر الكونغرس ذو الغالبية المحافظة هذا الأسبوع قانوناً قد يخفف عقوبة بولسونارو إلى السجن لنحو عامين.
وتعهد لولا باستخدام الفيتو ضد القانون، إلا أن للكونغرس الكلمة الفصل وله الحق في تجاوز قرار الرئيس.
وأمس الجمعة، واستجابة لطلب محامي بولسونارو، أذنت المحكمة العليا بنقله إلى مستشفى في برازيليا لإجراء جراحة.
وفي وقت سابق صرحت الشرطة في بيان بأن فحصاً طبياً رسمياً أكد إصابة بولسونارو بفتق “يتطلب جراحة اختيارية”.
وطلب محامو بولسونارو بأن يتم السماح له بقضاء عقوبته رهن الإقامة الجبرية لأسباب صحية، لكن مورايس رفض هذا الطلب أمس الجمعة.

A judge on Brazil’s Supreme Court on Friday rejected a new appeal filed by jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro against his coup conviction, according to a court document seen by AFP.
The 70-year-old Bolsonaro began serving his 27-year prison sentence last November, after the country’s highest court declared he had exhausted all appeal avenues.
However, his lawyers filed an appeal on the merits of the case three days after his imprisonment.
Bolsonaro’s previous, rejected appeals had focused on “ambiguities, omissions, and contradictions” he argued were present in his trial.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes, who oversaw Bolsonaro’s trial, stated he did not recognize the new appeal, which requires two judges to vote against the conviction.
Only one of the five judges on the Supreme Court panel voted against convicting Bolsonaro.
The far-right politician, who served as president from 2019 to 2022, was convicted of leading a conspiracy after he lost the election to prevent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from taking office.
The conservative-majority Congress this week passed a law that could reduce Bolsonaro’s sentence to about two years in prison.
Lula pledged to veto the law; however, Congress has the final say and the right to override the president’s decision.
On Friday, in response to a request from Bolsonaro’s lawyers, the Supreme Court authorized his transfer to a hospital in Brasilia for surgery.
Earlier, police said in a statement that an official medical examination confirmed Bolsonaro has a hernia “requiring elective surgery.”
Bolsonaro’s lawyers had requested he be allowed to serve his sentence under house arrest for health reasons, but Moraes rejected this request on Friday.
