دعا وزير الدفاع السعودي الأمير خالد بن سلمان المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي في اليمن إلى تغليب صوت العقل والحكمة والمصلحة العامة ووحدة الصف في هذه المرحلة الحساسة بالاستجابة لجهود الوساطة السعودية – الإماراتية لإنهاء التصعيد وخروج قواتهم من المعسكرات في محافظتي حضرموت والمهرة وتسليمها سلمياً لقوات درع الوطن والسلطة المحلية.
وأكد الأمير خالد بن سلمان في منشور على حسابه بمنصة “إكس” حمل عنوان “إلى أهلنا في اليمن” أن السعودية تعاملت مع القضية الجنوبية في اليمن باعتبارها قضية سياسية عادلة لا يمكن تجاهلها أو اختزالها في أشخاص أو توظيفها في صراعات لا تخدم جوهرها ولا مستقبلها. وقال، “جمعت السعودية كافة المكونات اليمنية في مؤتمر الرياض لوضع مسار واضح للحل السياسي الشامل في اليمن، بما في ذلك معالجة القضية الجنوبية، كما أن اتفاق الرياض كفل مشاركة الجنوبيين في السلطة، وفتح الطريق نحو حل عادل لقضيتهم يتوافق عليه الجميع من خلال الحوار من دون استخدام القوة”. وأشار إلى أنه “استجابة لطلب الشرعية اليمنية قامت السعودية بجمع الدول الشقيقة للمشاركة في تحالف دعم الشرعية بجهود ضخمة في إطار عمليتي (عاصفة الحزم وإعادة الأمل) في سبيل استعادة سيطرة الدولة اليمنية على كامل أراضيها، وكان لتحرير المحافظات الجنوبية دور محوري في تحقيق ذلك”.
وأضاف، “باركت السعودية قرار نقل السلطة الذي أتاح للجنوبيين حضوراً فاعلاً في مؤسسات الدولة، ورسَّخ مبدأ الشراكة بديلاً عن الإقصاء أو فرض الأمر الواقع بالقوة، وقدمنا دعماً اقتصادياً ومشاريع ومبادرات تنموية وإنسانية أسهمت في تخفيف المعاناة عن الشعب اليمني الشقيق، مما ساعد في تعزيز الصمود ومواجهة مختلف الظروف الاقتصادية”. وتابع “قدمت السعودية وأشقاؤها في التحالف تضحيات بأبنائهم وإمكاناتهم مع إخوتهم أبناء اليمن لتحرير عدن والمحافظات اليمنية الأخرى، وكان حرص السعودية الدائم أن تكون هذه التضحيات من أجل استعادة الأرض والدولة، لا مدخلاً لصراعات جديدة، وأن يُصان الأمن لليمنيين كافة، وألا تستغل تلك التضحيات لتحقيق مكاسب ضيقة، حيث أدت الأحداث المؤسفة منذ بداية ديسمبر (كانون الأول) الجاري في محافظتي (حضرموت والمهرة) إلى شق الصف في مواجهة العدو، وإهدار ما ضحّى من أجله أبناؤنا وأبناء اليمن، والإضرار بالقضية الجنوبية العادلة”.
وأوضح أن “العديد من المكونات والقيادات والشخصيات الجنوبية أظهرت دوراً واعياً وحكيماً في دعم جهود إنهاء التصعيد في محافظتي حضرموت والمهرة، والمساهمة في إعادة السلم المجتمعي، وعدم جر المحافظات الجنوبية الآمنة إلى صراعات لا طائل منها، وإدراكهم للتحديات الكبرى التي تواجه اليمن في الوقت الراهن، وعدم إعطاء فرصة للمتربصين لتحقيق أهدافهم في اليمن والمنطقة، ومن هذا المنطلق تؤكد السعودية أن القضية الجنوبية ستظل حاضرة في أي حل سياسي شامل ولن تنسى أو تهمش، وينبغي أن يجري حلها من خلال التوافق والوفاء بالالتزامات وبناء الثقة بين أبناء اليمن جميعاً، لا من خلال المغامرة التي لا تخدم إلا عدو الجميع”.
أكد المتحدث الرسمي باسم قوات التحالف اللواء الركن تركي المالكي، اليوم السبت، أنه سيجري التعامل مع أي تحركات عسكرية تهدد خفض التصعيد في اليمن، مشيراً إلى أن هذه الإجراءات المتخذة هدفها حماية المدنيين وإنجاح جهود السعودية والإمارات.
وقال اللواء المالكي في بيان نشرته وكالة الأنباء السعودية (واس)، إن هذا الإجراء جرى اتخاذه “استجابة للطلب المقدم من رئيس مجلس القيادة الرئاسي اليمني الدكتور رشاد العليمي في شأن اتخاذ إجراءات فورية لحماية المدنيين بمحافظة حضرموت نتيجة للانتهاكات الإنسانية الجسيمة والمروعة بحقهم من قبل العناصر المسلحة التابعة للمجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي”.
وأشار إلى أن “هذه الخطوة تأتي أيضاً استمراراً للجهود الدؤوبة والمشتركة للسعودية والإمارات في خفض التصعيد وخروج قوات الانتقالي وتسليم المعسكرات لقوات درع الوطن وتمكين السلطة المحلية من ممارسة مسؤولياتها”.
ونبه إلى “استمرار موقف قيادة القوات المشتركة للتحالف الداعم والثابت للحكومة اليمنية الشرعية، مهيباً بالجميع تحمل المسؤولية الوطنية وضبط النفس والاستجابة لجهود الحلول السلمية لحفظ الأمن والاستقرار”.
كانت قناة “عدن” التابعة للمجلس الانتقالي قالت إن سلاح الجو السعودي أغار على مواقع تابعة له في محافظة حضرموت. وذكرت القناة في منشور على “فيسبوك” أن “سلاح الجو السعودي يقصف مواقع لقوات النخبة الحضرمية في وادي نحب بحضرموت”، من دون الإبلاغ عن وقوع ضحايا حتى الآن، كذلك أفادت مصادر في المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي لوكالة الصحافة الفرنسية بتنفيذ ثلاث غارات جوية.
وكشف رئيس الإعلام في حلف قبائل حضرموت المناوئ للمجلس الانتقالي صبري بن مخاشن عن أن الطيران السعودي شنّ، أمس الجمعة، ثماني ضربات، غالبيتها تحذيرية، بالقرب من مواقع استحدثتها قوات المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي في محافظة حضرموت، من دون ورود معلومات عن حجم الخسائر في صفوفها، في تطور يدفع بالمحافظة الاستراتيجية إلى خط الصراع للمرة الأولى، بعدما ظلت بمنأى عن الحرب التي يشهدها اليمن منذ الانقلاب الحوثي عام 2014، في وقت تحذر السعودية من استمرار تمدد المجلس الانتقالي شرق البلاد.
من جانبه، اعتبر الانتقالي أن تحركات الأخيرة “جاءت استجابة مباشرة لدعوات أبناء الجنوب لمواجهة التهديدات الأمنية وفي مقدمتها الجماعات الإرهابية وقطع خطوط التهريب التي استخدمتها ميليشيات الحوثي الإرهابية كـ”شريان حياة” طوال السنوات الماضية”.
وأكد البيان “انفتاح المجلس على أي تنسيق يضمن أمن الجنوب ووحدته وسلامته، ويلبي تطلعات شعبه، ويحفظ المصالح المشتركة مع الأشقاء في السعودية”. واعتبر أن التطورات التي يشهدها اليمن لا تخدم مسارات التفاهم ولن تثني من أسماهم بـ”شعب الجنوب” عن المضي في استعادة حقوقهم كاملة.
وكانت السعودية أعلنت، أول أمس، أنها لا تزال تأمل في أن ينهي المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي التصعيد ويسحب قواته بصورة عاجلة من محافظتي حضرموت والمهرة، منددة بتصرفه “الأحادي”. وفي 12 ديسمبر (كانون الأول) الجاري، وصل وفد عسكري سعودي- إماراتي مشترك إلى عدن لبحث ترتيبات تهدئة التوتر وضمان عودة قوات المجلس الانتقالي إلى مواقعها السابقة خارج المحافظتين، مؤكداً استمرار الجهود لإعادة الأوضاع إلى ما كانت عليه.

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman called on the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen to prioritize reason, wisdom, the public interest, and unity of ranks during this sensitive phase by responding to Saudi-Emirati mediation efforts to de-escalate and withdraw their forces from camps in the Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates and hand them over peacefully to the Homeland Shield forces and local authorities.
In a post on his account on the “X” platform titled “To Our People in Yemen,” Prince Khalid bin Salman affirmed that Saudi Arabia has dealt with the Southern issue in Yemen as a just political cause that cannot be ignored, reduced to individuals, or exploited for conflicts that do not serve its essence or future. He said, “Saudi Arabia gathered all Yemeni components at the Riyadh Conference to establish a clear path for a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, including addressing the Southern issue. The Riyadh Agreement also ensured Southern participation in power, paving the way for a just solution to their cause agreed upon by all through dialogue without the use of force.” He pointed out that “in response to the request of the Yemeni legitimacy, Saudi Arabia gathered sisterly countries to participate in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy with massive efforts within the framework of Operations (Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope) to restore the Yemeni state’s control over all its territories, and the liberation of the Southern governorates played a pivotal role in achieving that.”
He added, “Saudi Arabia blessed the decision to transfer power, which enabled effective Southern presence in state institutions and entrenched the principle of partnership as an alternative to exclusion or imposing a fait accompli by force. We provided economic support, projects, and development and humanitarian initiatives that contributed to alleviating the suffering of our brotherly Yemeni people, helping to enhance resilience and confront various economic conditions.” He continued, “Saudi Arabia and its brothers in the Coalition offered sacrifices with their sons and capabilities alongside their Yemeni brothers to liberate Aden and other Yemeni governorates. Saudi Arabia’s constant concern has been for these sacrifices to be for the restoration of land and state, not as an entry point for new conflicts, to preserve security for all Yemenis, and not to exploit those sacrifices for narrow gains. The unfortunate events since early December in the (Hadramawt and Al-Mahra) governorates have caused division in facing the enemy, squandered what our sons and the sons of Yemen sacrificed for, and harmed the just Southern cause.”
He explained that “many Southern components, leaders, and figures have shown a conscious and wise role in supporting efforts to end the escalation in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates, contributing to the restoration of social peace, and not dragging secure Southern governorates into futile conflicts, recognizing the major challenges facing Yemen at present, and not giving an opportunity to those lying in wait to achieve their goals in Yemen and the region. From this standpoint, Saudi Arabia affirms that the Southern cause will remain present in any comprehensive political solution and will not be forgotten or marginalized. It should be resolved through consensus, fulfilling commitments, and building trust among all Yemenis, not through adventurism that only serves the enemy of all.”
Official Spokesman for the Coalition Forces, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed on Saturday that any military movements threatening de-escalation in Yemen would be dealt with, indicating that these measures aim to protect civilians and ensure the success of Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s efforts.
In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Brig. Gen. Al-Maliki said this measure was taken “in response to the request submitted by the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, regarding taking immediate measures to protect civilians in Hadramawt governorate as a result of the grave and horrific humanitarian violations against them by armed elements affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC).”
He pointed out that “this step also comes as a continuation of the diligent and joint efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to de-escalate, secure the withdrawal of Transitional Council forces, hand over camps to Homeland Shield forces, and enable the local authority to exercise its responsibilities.”
He stressed “the continued position of the leadership of the Joint Forces of the Supporting Coalition, which is firm and supportive of the legitimate Yemeni government,” urging everyone “to assume national responsibility, exercise restraint, and respond to efforts for peaceful solutions to preserve security and stability.”
The STC-affiliated “Aden” channel had stated that Saudi air force had raided positions belonging to it in Hadramawt governorate. The channel said in a post on “Facebook” that “the Saudi air force is bombing positions of Hadrami Elite forces in Wadi Nahb in Hadramawt,” without reporting any casualties so far. Also, sources within the STC told AFP that three airstrikes had been carried out.
The head of media for the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance, which opposes the STC, Sabri bin Makhashin, revealed that the Saudi air force carried out eight strikes, mostly warning shots, on Friday near positions newly established by STC forces in Hadramawt governorate, without information on the extent of losses in their ranks. This development pushes the strategic governorate into the line of conflict for the first time, having remained distant from the war Yemen has witnessed since the Houthi coup in 2014, at a time when Saudi Arabia warns against the continued expansion of the STC eastward.
For its part, the STC considered that its recent movements “came in direct response to calls by the people of the South to confront security threats, foremost among which are terrorist groups and cutting smuggling lines used by the terrorist Houthi militias as a ‘lifeline’ over the past years.”
The statement affirmed “the Council’s openness to any coordination that ensures the security, unity, and safety of the South, meets the aspirations of its people, and preserves common interests with brothers in Saudi Arabia.” It considered that the developments Yemen is witnessing do not serve paths of understanding and will not deter what it called the “people of the South” from proceeding to fully restore their rights.
Saudi Arabia had announced, the day before yesterday, that it still hopes the STC would end the escalation and urgently withdraw its forces from Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates, condemning its “unilateral” action. On December 12, a joint Saudi-Emirati military delegation arrived in Aden to discuss arrangements for calming tensions and ensuring the return of STC forces to their previous positions outside the two governorates, confirming the continuation of efforts to restore the situation to what it was.
