بريطانيا تعلن عزمها تسيير طائرات فوق البحرين دعما لدفاعها

أعلن السفير البريطاني لدى المنامة أليستر لونغ، الجمعة، أن بلاده تعتزم تسيير طائرات فوق البحرين، للمساهمة في دعم الدفاع عنها.
وفي تسجيل مصور نشرته السفارة البريطانية على منصة “فيسبوك”، قال لونغ إن “طائرات تابعة لسلاح الجو الملكي البريطاني ستحلق فوق البحرين، كمساهمة في الدفاع عنها”.
ووصف البحرين بأنها “أحد أقرب حلفاء بلاده في العالم”.
وأوضح السفير البريطاني، أن هذه الخطوة جاءت عقب اتصال بين رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر، وعاهل البحرين حمد بن عيسى آل خليفة، إضافة إلى اجتماع عقده مستشار الأمن الوطني البحريني ناصر بن حمد آل خليفة مع المشاركين في “اتفاقية التكامل الأمني والازدهار الشامل”.
وأشار إلى أن الاتفاقية، التي جرى توقعيها عام 2023، تمثل شراكة دفاعية ثلاثية الأطراف، تضم البحرين والمملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة، موضحا أن رئيس أركان الدفاع البريطاني السير ريتشارد نايتون شارك في الاجتماع.
وأكد لونغ أن مشاركة بلاده “في الدفاع عن البحرين وضمان انتصارها في هذا الهجوم المروع عليها أمر بالغ الأهمية”.
ومنذ 28 فبراير/ شباط الماضي، تشن إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة حربا على إيران، أسفرت عن مقتل مئات الإيرانيين، بينهم المرشد الأعلى علي خامنئي ومسؤولون أمنيون كبار، فيما ترد طهران على تل أبيب بشن هجمات بالصواريخ والمسيرات.
كما تستهدف إيران بصواريخ ومسيرات ما تصفه بـ”مصالح أمريكية” في دول الخليج والعراق والأردن، غير أن بعض هذه الهجمات أسقط قتلى وجرحى وألحق أضرارا بأعيان مدنية، وهو ما أدانته الدول العربية المستهدفة، مطالبة بوقف هذه الاعتداءات.
وفي وقت سابق الجمعة، أعلنت البحرين، أن منظومات الدفاع الجوي دمرت 78 صاروخا و143 طائرة مسيرة أطلقت من إيران باتجاه المملكة منذ بدء تلك الهجمات.

The British Ambassador to Manama, Alastair Long, announced on Friday that his country intends to fly planes over Bahrain to contribute to supporting its defense.
In a video recording published by the British Embassy on the Facebook platform, Long said that “Righty Royal Air Force planes will fly over Bahrain, as a contribution to its defense.”
He described Bahrain as “one of his country’s closest allies in the world.”
The British ambassador explained that this step came after a call between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in addition to a meeting held by Bahraini National Security Advisor Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa with the participants in the “Agreement on Security Integration and Comprehensive Prosperity.”
He pointed out that the agreement, which was signed in 2023, represents a tripartite defense partnership, which includes Bahrain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, explaining that the British Chief of the Defense Staff, Sir Richard Knighton, participated in the meeting.
Long stressed that his country’s participation “in defending Bahrain and ensuring its victory in this horrific attack on it is extremely important.”
Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been waging a war against Iran, which resulted in…Hundreds of Iranians were killed, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior security officials, while Tehran responded to Tel Aviv by launching missile attacks and marches.
Iran also targets, with missiles and drones, what it describes as “American interests” in the Gulf states, Iraq and Jordan. However, some of these attacks caused deaths and injuries and caused damage to civilian objects, which was condemned by the targeted Arab countries, demanding an end to these attacks.
Earlier on Friday, Bahrain announced that air defense systems had destroyed 78 missiles and 143 drones launched from Iran towards the Kingdom since the start of those attacks.
